This unit has been helpful in providing a refresher on what needs to be included in a test to make it comprehensive. Periodically, my ESL team would be asked to help redesign tests by the Korean team, and we would often not be able to come to a consensus on what is important. This unit served as a reminder that on progress tests, there is a need to all four skills, and as a reminder that multiple choice is often the best way of representing questions that can be graded in a timely manner. I often had trouble keeping track of the differences between TOEIC, TOEFL, and others, especially when mixed in with similar acronyms for ESL teacher training, like TEFL, TOSEL and CELTA, so the list at the end of the chapter provided a helpful reference tool to help with figuring out expectations in new countries that I'll be teaching in.
