Unit 9 discussed how to more effectively use course material. More than anything, I learned the advantages and disadvantages of using material created by the teacher vs. material that has already been created by someone who is not the teacher of the class being taught. Ultimately, the teacher is the person present in his/her place of teaching when students are being taught. What this means is that the individual teacher will possibly have a slight advantage over whoever potentially created material that has already been prepared by another teacher/organization. The teacher him/herself knows the individual and specific needs of the learner and can use that in many ways to their advantage if their understanding of the learner is accurate.
