This unit briefly covered the methods and roles of different types of assessments used throughout different stages of an English course, from the entry to the completion stage. It also covered different international accredited English certification exams and their general uses for students. Overall I found this topic sadly lacking in specific content, so there isn't a whole lot I can say here. I would have liked to have seen a section covering how different forms of test develop understanding through forcing students to critically think, and how others are simply used because they are easy to mark. (ie, Multiple choice VS full written answers) Also, how to specifically test different skills or reading, grammar output and listening would have been good to see.
