There are a number of differences in these video and examples of how to and how not to run a lesson in a classroom. In the first video the teacher never smiled, didn't know the name of his students, was rude, didn't give examples of what he was asking for, and did not make himself available during the study part of the ESA lesson plan format. In return from his class they were scared to answer any question and wasn't for sure what answer he was looking for.
In the second video in my opinion that is how a classroom and lesson should be ran. He use the ESA method and was prepared with an lesson plan and even when they fully didn't follow the direction he was flexible with the students which probably helped build rapport with his class, instead wasting the class time reexplaining what he had asked for.
