While studying the unit on "Managing Classes," several things stood out to me. First of all, teachers have much influence on setting the tone of the class through seating, exercises and tone of voice. Secondly, teacher participation is important as he may be the only authentic source of English for many of the students, but TTT must be balanced with STT to have an effective learning experience. Finally, a teacher should make efforts to reduce undesirable conduct, but he also must be ready to deal with it when the need arises. The amount of need for discipline as well as the type of discipline required will depend largely on the age of the students and their cultural background.
