This unit was about what the teacher needs to know before teaching new vocabulary and grammar structures. If you teach vocabulary, you need to say what the word means, how it is positioned in the sentence, how it affects other words, when you use it (formal, informal, technical language) and you need to check spelling and pronunciation. As for grammar, you need to teach meaning, usage, forms and patterns, and written/spoken forms.
When you are teaching vocabulary and grammar it's recommended to use the Straight Arrow pattern, but if you are focused in function it's better to use Boomerang or Patchwork pattern. These are recommendations, but as the teacher, you have to analyze what it's the best option according to what is your objective in the lesson.
