Theories, methods and techniques is exactly what the unit is all about. Brief introduction into various concepts covering the nature vs. nurture debate, which goes back to antiquity. However, the focus of this unit is to introduce ITTT's chosen methodology, that of Jeremy Harmer's Engage, Study and Active (ESA) methodology, which combines the positive aspects of earlier methodologies and theories. Number of techniques are provided for each stage, but the important concept is to always to start with engagement and ending with activation. Students level and the length of the class play an important indication as to which tool should be used, so as to maximize learning withing the time alloted and level of the student.
