In Unit 4, I learned the differences between the four present tenses: present simple, present perfect, present continuous, and present perfect continuous. Present simple is used for facts, routines, habits, and general truths. The present continuous is used to talk about actions in progress at or around the time of speaking. The present perfect relates the past to the present. Uses include the unfinished past, the indefinite past, and to show the present result of a past action. The present perfect continuous also relates the past to the present, but focuses more on the continuity or duration of the action, and also the unfinished past.
