In this lesson, Unit 5, I basically learned three very important things: (1) the value of letting students gain confidence by providing a friendly and non-threatening learning atmosphere that is conducive to learning; (2) the value of building rapport with the students and letting the students build rapport amongst themselves so as to provide a more friendly classroom environment which may hasten learning since interactions would be more easy; and (3) the value of letting students talk more and interact with one another since being able to use the language more frequently is a core to learning how to fluently speak it. I realized that teachers may contribute to the development of all these, not to mention all other things that they must work on such as paralanguage, group dynamics, classroom arrangement, and student behavior.
