There are opposing opinions on should teachers plan their lessons; while some propose it, others oppose it, saying that too much planning makes a lesson rigid and prevents teacher from being flexible. However, talking from my personal experience as well, I consider it too be very helpful in case of inexperienced teachers. As one gains experience and knowledge, he/she requires less detailed plans, and is more flexible. Writing a lesson plan has many important functions, so in no case should be avoided: it is an aid to planning, a working document, and a record. Unit then offers advice and examples on how to write down a good plan, as there is no special way, each teacher finds their own: it should be simple, structured and flexible. To make sure lesson goes smoothly teacher has to be organized, and before the class begins he/she should check his/her lesson plan and necessary materials, make sure that all the equipment works, arrange seats, clean the board etc. Learner objective, personal aims, language point, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedure, phase, timing, interaction, class level, number of students, date and time are some of the things that should be included when writing a lesson plan. The unit also offers self-evaluation form for teachers, as it is essential for a good teacher to monitor the quality of his/her classes, make notes on what went well and where there is a room for improvement. I found this unit very helpful; although I've been teaching for a few years now, and have already devised my own successful strategy and lesson plans, I still learn new things every day, and in order to continue improving any advice and examples are always more than welcome. I'm sure I will be using many of the things from this lesson, especially sample materials, I found them to be quite fun and creative, which is immensely helpful when trying to write an interesting lesson plan.
