This unit corrected my idea about the personality character of the teacher. I always thought that extroverted personality is an essential for successful teachers.
Eye contact is essential to feel confident and help students keep focused but should be avoided when focus is on fluency.
Gesture: used when only obvious in meaning or the meaning has been already established with the students.
Voice: the greater the variation of tone the greater the effectiveness.
Student names: tell the name at the end of the question not the start
Grouping students: each type of grouping or individual or paired work, has its place in the class room
Classroom arrangement is very important and affect concentration and type of activities going on inside the class.
Orderly rows, circles and horse shoes, separate tables each arrangement has its impact and I should be aware of the suitable situation to use it.
My position in class should vary according to the role I am playing in the class.
I learnt to organize my writing on the board to avoid giving my back to the students for a long time
I learnt to use my talking time effectively to help students practice more without decreasing the effectiveness of learning.
Giving instructions and establishing rapport with the students are two very important items that will surely affect learning and should be given enough attention to be done in the correct way.
