This unit is about Teaching new language: Vocabulary, grammar and functions. When teaching vocabulary, teachers should select appropriate vocabulary, and the criteria can be used: Appropriacy to the students, Appropriacy to the task, Frequency and coverage, Teachability. Students should know meaning, use, word grammar, interaction, spelling and pronunciation. In teaching vocabulary part?a teacher can use 'straight arrow' structured ESA method. When teachers introduce grammatical structures, students need to know meaning, use, forms and patterns, spoken and written form. A typical patchwork ESA method is adopted. When teachers teaching language functions, a typical function ESA boomerang method is used. I learned that when I teach low level students new vocabularies, I can use gap-fill exercises, crosswords for study stage and role play for activate stage. It's important to choose appropriate words to explain or instruct.
