English parts of speech can be viewed as "simple to the point of difficulty." Each rule makes sense for how words fit in a sentence, but there are many exceptions to almost every rule which can make teaching these rules very difficult to students of English. Through studying this unit's content, I've noticed how I can understand these rules and use them in my own speech but that I don't necessarily know how to explain them. As a native speaker, "I just know." However, "just knowing" isn't enough to declare yourself a master of anything, much less language teaching. If teachers of English in foreign countries are meant to be the guides or authorities of their language, knowing these details is extremely important.
