I personally know the delights and hardships of keeping documented lesson plans. Depending on how detailed your planning is, this somewhat over looked step can be a crucial help to yourself or the person to come after you. As a new "assistant language teacher" in Japan, I had no previous teaching knowledge and scrambled to find anything to help me prepare my lessons. One previous teacher left behind their full worksheets from the book my classes were using along with notes of activities, things that worked, or adjustments for level. These lessons were a guide to how I could navigate this school's lesson planning. After being monitored for a full year on my own lesson planning, I definitely feel more confident preparing and adjusting my classes. I still have lots to learn when it comes to preparing excellent classes, but I will never under estimate the power of what keeping those records means to me or the person after me.
