This unit went over the receptive skills of reading and listening; but also briefly mentioned productive skills. I learned some of the different reasons that different people read; sometimes it's for specific information, other times it's for details, general ideas, entertainment, or to confirm if what they got from the headline was correct. I learned that it's better to pre-teach vocabulary later into the class, during the study phase, rather than the beginning or end of class. Lastly I learned that it's okay to begin an ESA lesson with media such as a song or short video clip.
