I like the ways in which the different past tenses are succinctly broken down in this unit. Using detective games for past continuous activate stages, piece the story together games from the end for past perfect activate stage exercises, and CV/job interview role play for past simple activate stage exercises sounds fun and informative. Differentiating the past perfect continuous tense from other past tenses can be tricky, so I was glad to read about the best ways to effectively do this in class (an action in the past that continues up to a point in the past and it is unclear whether or not the action continues after that moment, stressing the continuous uninterrupted nature of the action). Careful explanation of how to build present tenses will hopefully assist learners in building sentences using past tenses (have - had, have been - had been, am/is/are - was/were, ed).
