This unit focuses on the effective selection of listening and reading materials. It is important to select content that will be engaging and interesting to motivate students to participate. This unit requires deductive reasoning to compare the Elvis lesson in the example with the Tom Cruise example in the text. The lessons are different but they follow the established ESA lesson structure. I thought that the idea of contextual interpretation being varied in different cultures was very poignant.
