This unit went over the basic characteristics of teachers and students in a classroom setting. It mentioned the different ways in which a teacher may be a positive or negative force in the classroom. For instance, not knowing much about the culture in which one is teaching may be detrimental to the learners because cultural miscommunications can lead to students feeling offended or left out. A good teacher should be compassionate and understanding. When teaching abroad, a good teacher should be aware of the cultural norms that are revered and those that are not respected.
