At my current position, we have a similar understanding of language levels within English learners. However we have condensed beginner to low-intermediate together and generally do not interact with advanced learners. I just found it interesting to compare the general understanding of motivation and how to motivate different levels, ages, and cultural backgrounds. There are a variety of aspects of a lesson and a variety of ways a teacher must change to bring the best out of the practice for the learner.
