In fifth grade I was taught parts of speech and we tested on 5 sentences each day. I always found it easy and engaging. However, I never learned what a Gerund is! I was always wondering what the exact function of an ing verb coupled with another verb was. Now I know! It will be interesting trying to teach people that a verb can become a noun. It was a great refresher course for me to learn of the different types of verbs, nouns, etc... as I had forgotten about the specifics. Funnily enough, learning more in depth about my native language is helping me to understand German better!
