A brief overview of the content of this unit:
This unit is about the characteristics if a good teacher and good students; the different roles that a teacher plays in class; and what informs the characteristics of a good learner-age, learning experience, motivation, nervousness, language awareness, life experience, culture and first language, and language level.
What I have learnt from Unit 1:
In this unit I have learnt that in order to be a good teacher my lessons should be more 'student-centred' than 'teacher-centred'. I have also been able to distinguish between the different roles that I play as a teacher, and depending on the different activities in class, most times I may play more than one role in a lesson. Lastly, students are at different age groups, have different learning experiences, with different motivation, and have different life experiences; therefore I should always be aware of the experiences and needs of my students and try by all means to design activities which meets those experiences and fulfil their needs.
