This unit was about the basic parts of speech and how they are combined to make sentences and phrases. As a native speaker of English sometimes this aspect of the language is overlooked or taken for granted. Whereas for an ESL student parts of speech are instrumental in their understanding of the language. An understanding of parts of speech will eventually enable ESL students to create natural English sentences that are grammatically correct.
