This unit has allowed me to begin to understand the qualities that one must develop to become a teacher. Beforehand I did not appreciate the breadth of skills needed and the tact required to teach a full range of potential students. Moreover, understanding the need to relate to the motives of a student, young or old, is vital to provide an effective learning experience. This is something that seems obvious once having the fact explained to you, however, it is not something I had realised throughout my own education.
The ranking of different levels of proficiency is also something that I can see being important both in one to one tuition and classroom teaching.
