The two videos provide a strong juxtaposition between a bad and good teaching style. I was thoroughly relieved to discover that the second video involved the same instructor so that he could redeem himself in my eyes. The first video was painful to watch because the instructor spoke very quickly and provided little explanation to the students. He was often curt and rude in the second video and failed to create a supportive environment in which the students wanted to participate. The vocabulary necessary to participate in the Engage stage was possibly beyond their grasp without any prior explanation. The teacher forgot the apostrophes in his examples during the first lesson. Worst of all, he didn't explain the worksheet whatsoever and proceeded to rush the students through it. While they were trying to complete the worksheet he was on his phone and not monitoring the students at all. The second lesson provided a much better teaching style. He successfully led the students through the Engage stage with questions that they could understand. He also focused on repetition of pronunciation with all the students. He would ask students to answer questions about their peers answers to ensure that they were always listening.
