Learning the vocabulary of a language is one of the most enjoyable parts I have found. I was interested to read on the difference between receptive and productive words when referring to vocabulary. Teaching of vocabulary is largely dependent on the appropriaty to the student and task, as well as how easy it is to teach. A word such as, tree, is much easier to teach than the word, ceremony. Grammar and language functions are much more involved than teaching vocab, and they require different teaching techniques.
