This unit helped me to reflect on the importance of a teacher's understanding of self and the students. There are many factors that will affect the effectiveness of a lesson including the teacher and students' attitudes, the students' motivation, the teacher's focus on the improvement of the students' English skills and the roles the teacher takes on in any one lesson. Other things such as age, culture, preferences and experiences must be considered when a teacher plans lessons.
