This material was a good explanation of an unfamiliar concept to me: reported speech. I understood how conditionals worked, but had never been given a structure for how they are organized (i.e. Zero, First, Second, Third, Mixed Conditionals). But reported speech was unfamiliar in terms of its rules. I had not thought about changing Present Perfect to Past Perfect, Present Simple to Past Simple, Etc. as a rule of reporting direct speech. Part of the challenge is that reporting direct speech is a facet of English that we generally utilize as SPOKEN LANGUAGE, not usually in a written manner. So this will be a good unit to review when teaching verbal language skills to students.
