This unit for me is a valuable exercise in that it covers two very important topics. Evaluation and progress. Initial evaluation is like a diagnosis from a doctor. Once the diagnosis has been done then the student can be placed in the correct class and can receive the correct teaching based on their knowledge at that point. Progress testing looks at how far the student has come from beginning the course and gives them and the teacher an indication as to what areas that have already been covered need to be redone or what areas the student is proficient in.
