One of the most important parts of teaching English Language Learners is helping the students with their pronunciation. I try to teach my students where they need to produce sound from or how their mouth needs to look in order to produce a certain sound. For example, I recently taught my students the digraph "th". I was trying to explain to the students that they need to put the tip of their tongue on the tip of their teeth to produce this sound. I had them look at how my mouth was, I had them try to produce the sound on their own and I had them try to practice. After this unit, I am more clear on the best way to help the students produce different sounds correctly.
