As an ESL teacher, I have taught First Grade to Fourth and Fifth Grade ESL. As a new teacher, I wasn't sure what was the best approach to teaching an ESL class. I remember getting the textbook the students were using and not agreeing with what I should do. I remember asking other teachers and they said that I should follow the textbook, but I should provide additional support with my own resources. After reading this chapter on advantages and disadvantages of using a course book, it provided me with additional support on what I can do to enhance my lessons and improve my teaching as a teacher.
