This unit focused on managing the classroom. this includes everything from the actual classroom lay out to how to organize group work to a teachers eye contact and voice level. I was especially struck by the idea of using a students name to indicate that a question is being asked of them specifically at the end rather than the beginning in order to keep the entire class engaged. After reading the section on discipline I was encouraged to prevent the need for it as much as possible by creating a good rapport and classroom environment to start out with.
