I found the reading skills sections to be rather interesting. I went through the list and was able to remember using each of the skills myself and the type of material that I would read for each one. Reading study skills seem like they are valuable, as they do allow each student to process the new language at their own pace. Pre-teaching the vocabulary allows for students to learn new words and then utilize the language right away, understanding the context of how that word is used. There are a lot of criteria associated with choosing the right topic for a reading exercise. Level of interest, cultural appropriateness, and suitability for discussion and learning all play a factor in determining what topics to explore. I liked the idea of creating interest in a top through the use of visual aids: movies, pictures or diagrams all are readily available on the internet.
