It was very interesting to see two demo lessons side by side. I think everyone has experienced both types of teaching attitudes, but hardly would we think of ourselves as the teacher. I think it can be very easy to come to a class and not think of how your attitude will effect the students. But it is clearly obvious that if you don't make the students feel comfortable, then they will not participate and get the most from the lesson. Sometimes there will be questions that maybe you didn't prepare for, such as the questions about can and could. Instead of telling a student not to worry about it, it should be addressed. If you don't have a confident answer, the student should at least be reassured that you will get this information for them. Otherwise the students will be left feeling like they cannot ask questions and their desire to learn will decrease. I also noticed just a few things that even in the second lesson may not be the best. We as teachers should always try to make sure we have all the facts correct. In the second lesson he said that alligators and crocodiles were the same thing, which is not true. This false information could be confusing later depending on why the students are learning english. I also liked how informative the second lesson was. He always made sure to give clear instructions and tell the students the time allowed.
