This unit introduces many of the basic grammar points that teachers will likely be expected to teach. These are: nouns, verbs, pronouns, possessives, articles, adverbs, prepositions, gerunds, adjectives (including comparatives and superlatives) and conjunctions. Whilst I am quite familiar with these points, having spent quite a lot of time teaching them, it was very useful to take a fresh look at all of the rules and exceptions for each of these. It was also interesting and helpful to review the ways in which one can describe these various points, e.g. the indefinite article referring to "any member of a group" versus the definite article referring to "a particular member of a group" or an object which both you and the listener are aware of. This is something which, in a classroom, I may sometimes struggle to describe clearly and concisely off the top of my head and I may well forget to mention some of the exceptions to a particular point, so looking over the descriptions for each point and examples of exceptions have been very beneficial.
