This unit has taught me how complex and important each part of a sentence is to the sentence structure. This unit taught me about all of the eight parts of speech that there is in the English language. For example, one part of speech that I was not aware of was the auxiliary verbs. These verbs help form tense or an expression by combining with present or past participles. These verbs help form a structure to the sentence. I also learned that there are only three of these types of verbs; be, do and have. Another part of speech that I learned about in this lesson was about gerunds. This is the -ing form of a verb that is used as a noun. Such as playing tennis or reading books. This unit helped me better understand sentence structure more in depth.
