Unit 10 was completely different to all previous lessons. It provided two different videos of a TEFL instructor lesson with Thai students.
The first of the two videos showed an instructor who was grumpy and looked like he did not want to be teaching anyone. He did not smile, seemed to snap at students, spoke too quickly, and was too loud. His students seemed confused most of the time and a bit uneasy when trying to participate. Moreover, he did not attempt any sort of warm-up exercises. He was obviously the example meant to show what not to do in your lesson.
The second video was completely different. The instructor smiled, did not raise his voice or snap at students, spoke slowly and clearly, and had a much friendlier demeanor. The students in this lesson were more alert and seem to be having fun. They were smiling just as much as the instructor. In addition, the level of their participation was multiplied ten-fold. This is definitely the way a lesson should be run. This proves maintaining a good attitude during a lesson is vital.
