The lesson plan unit is extremely useful information for my growth as a teacher. Previously I have taught young children science, and how to behave in a classroom so the lesson plans are very different for those teaching students English. I felt this unit was valuable because no matter the skill set of the teacher, it is crucial to have strong lesson plan structure. This doesn't mean you should not be flexible, but rather be prepared for changes, and have objectives and goals in mind. I found the example of the lesson plan in this unit extremely beneficial as every teacher may have a unique style, but it is important to have a foundation. This unit reviewed the main things to consider while planning as well as what to keep in mind while implementing. Offering a self-evaluation was an interesting addition to this unit as often teachers do not always have to tools to monitor their own progress when everything is so focused on the students, however, both are important for successful classrooms. Ultimately, all teachers will grow and adapt their methods however reviewing the basics that are covered in this unit will aid in better classroom goals, organization, and reflection.
