Unit #6 discussed the four different forms of the past tense: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. The unit explored their individual grammatical structures and usages, as well as some creative ways to teach them to ESL students. Through this lesson, I not only learned the rules which govern the usage of these tenses and distinguish them from others, but also how I might teach them to my students. Based on the sample activate teaching ideas given in the unit, story related activities seem to be most effective in this area.
