This unit covers how a lesson plan should be written and what should be included in a lesson plan. A lesson plan should cover three important functions. These are, an aid to planning, a record and a working document. What to include in a lesson plan will depend on each individual. However inexperienced teachers should try to include the following in their lesson plans; learner objectives, personal aims, language point, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedures, phase, timing, interaction, class level, number of students, date/time and teacher's and observer's names. This unit has taught me a great deal on what to include in my lesson plans so that I can have a smooth lesson. With the help of this unit, I am now more comfortable with the use of the ESA (Engage, Study and Activate) structure of lesson planning.
