In this unit, I learned about the various methodologies used in the teaching of ESL. There were several mentioned, including Grammar Translation, Audio Lingualism, PPP, Suggestopaedia and The Silent Way.
Each has its strengths and weaknesses. The method which is generally accepted and used the most is ESA {Engage/Study/Activate) or a variation thereof, like the Patchwork or Boomerang lesson. It gave me lots of examples for creating such a lesson plan.
