Although a very complex part of the language, it also offers some exciting opportunities for teaching advance students as you can build in a lot of activities incorporating the tenses - such as where people have travelled/how long for/when they will return. the similarities between perfect/simple/continuous and perfect continuous has the potential to trip up the most advanced students and is not a subject i feel would be beneficial teaching to any who are not at a fairly high level already.
