This unit concentrate on phonology, it is a good summary of the IPA as well.
The unit opens up with intonation in a sentence, which conveys meaning by itself and especially intentions. Then the unit explain stresses, where is likely to find stresses both inside a word and inside the sentence as a whole (most important words will be stressed, while functional words like articles and pronoun will be most likely without stresses). To conclude the section some suggestions on how to teach intonation and stress are given.
The second main part of the unit is dedicated to the phonemic alphabet, explaining the sounds of English and in particular their places and manners of articulation, including at the end of the section suggestions for teaching techniques.
