English language lessons are not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. Instead, they are influenced by students' preexisting language level, their age, and the reasons why they are enrolled in an English language class. Each class must be approached with students' unique needs in mind, but above all a teacher should approach the class in a professional way in order to build students' confidence in them. From there, teachers can more readily build a rapport and motivate students to learn, even if they are older learners with a steeper learning curve or younger learners who are more obligated than inspired to be enrolled in the class.
