Identifying the present tenses can be challenging for a native English speaker because we have always used the language without identifying the tenses. As children, we take on the language as we talk to adults. Many adults will gently correct our oral language by repeating our question or response with the correct grammar. While I am learning the TEFL content, I am having to think about the rules and labels for the language I that I am fluent in.
