In this unit we learn how to create a balanced lesson using engagement, studying techniques, and activation techniques. This was extremely useful in helping as I plan for my students upcoming lesson. Having this ESA method I am able to better balance my lesson and know where I should take a step back and when I can give guidance and assistance. It has also helped me to figure out how to make learning English more fun and differentiated for my students. The different types of elicitation techniques were useful. Giving students props or drawing something on the board allows for students to get a wide variety of learning. Some techniques I will use for my next class will be: Starting with the 'sevens' game where they must say seven adjectives or seven things that can fly. I will incorporate a gap-fill to help my students practice their verb conjugations and then I also want to incorporate some role-playing to get them talking and using the language in real life situations. We also learn the variety of teaching methods that teachers use in their classrooms. The teaching methods talked about are very diverse and range from teachers believing that they must say as little as possible in the classroom to teachers believing that the correct way to teach English as a foreign language is to translate everything from the students L1 language to English. I have taken a lot out of each of the methods talked about and see where I fit in my own teaching style and methodology.
