Past tenses to not differ much from present tenses, apart from the fact that they refer to past time periods. The usages and forms are very similar and therefore similar rules apply to both a past and present tenses. This will make it a lot easier to teach as well as to learn. I also learned that all perfect forms have the verb "to have" and can be used in either the present or the past perfect form. This detailed description of past tenses has opened my eyes to just how in depth the English language is and how difficult it must be to learn for non speakers.
