This unit of grammar is about modal auxiliary verbs, passive voice and phrasal verbs. The first section is about modal verbs. The most interesting part is certainly the chart with all the modal auxiliary verbs listed, whith their uses and their forms in different tenses. As usual, teaching ideas close the section. In the second part the passive voice is analyzed and it is explained how to change the active form into the passive form, explaining why it is useful to teach this form as well and giving some teaching suggestions. Following the passive voice, also relative clauses are introduce, explaining the difference between essential and not essential clauses. Finally, phrasal verbs are introduced. These verbs are composed by a verb plus one or more particles and they are very complicated for the learners because these particles are able able to change altogether the meaning of the main verb and the learners will need to memorize them. Phrasal verbs should be treated as vocabulary, the teacher should use them on a regular basis in spontaneous communication in order to get the students used to them.
