unit 4 describes the present tenses. Present simple tense is built up with subject + base form{+s/es} Negative form is built up with subject+auxiliary+verb+not+base form. Question form is built up with Auxiliary .verb{do/does}+subject+base form. Usages of present simple tense are ; Habitual or routine actions permanent situations,commentaries,instructions,headlines,when presenting a story, historical sequences. Present continuous tense is used when talking about an action that is in progress at the time of speaking,talking about a temporary action that is not necessarily in progress at the time of speaking, to emphasize very frequent actions,background events in a present story,to describe developing situations,to refer a regular action around a point of time. present continuous tenses are built with subject+auxiliary+verb+ing. Present perfect tenses are used when we talk about finished actions,thinking about completed past actions carried out in an unfinished time period at the time of speaking, talking about something which began in the past and is still true now,at the time of speaking. The affirmative form of present perfect is built up with subject+Auxiliary have+past participle. Present perfect continuous tense relates past activities to the present.It implies that either the activity is likely to continue in the future or that the activity was in progress for some length of time or both.The tense is built up with subject+auxiliary have +been+verb+ing.
