I really enjoyed the videos and watched them both more than once. Although it's clear these videos were scripted, and the students must have had some idea about what was going to happen, they really did appear to be confused in Lesson 1. The way the teacher spoke to them and treated them made me cringe. Not only was he unprepared for class and unclear in his explanations, he was also very rude. There is one student, an older person, named Dod, who seemed to have a harder time with English but who tried very hard to respond. The teacher appeared to be picking on him and mocked his answers more than once. That was very disturbing. In addition, the teacher kept wiping his nose with his hand and arm; in both videos he was barefoot. I feel that a teacher should be approachable and kind, but also dignified. I would never teach a class barefoot, unless it was a cultural issue. In Lesson 2 it was quite nice the way he encouraged the students, even when they made small errors. It looked like the students were really enjoying the class and learned something new. If I were a student in Lesson 1, I would not have returned to that class, and I would have made a complaint about the teacher. On the other hand, Lesson 2 gave me a better idea about how an ESA lesson is presented.
