Unit eight explains the definitions and usages of the future tenses – future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous and going to.
I learned simple ways to explain these complex ideas to students. We use “going to” when it is a planned future and future simple when it is in the moment e.g. “I’m going to run for president vs “We are out of milk” – “Oh, I’ll get some on my way home from work.”
The unit also offered helpful prompters to get students to speak in each tense e.g. for the future perfect continuous, "By this time next week...", "By tomorrow..."
